FRASERS CARES FOR OUR COMMUNITY
FRASERS FULFILLS A CHRISTMAS WISH & SUPPORTS "WOMEN IN AFRICA"
Frasers, Home of fine leather and luggage, fulfills a Christmas wish for Mrs. Sophie Masango, a SMME based in Kameelfontein B, Mpumalanga with the placement of an order for beaded decorations and contribution towards setting up a beadwork and doll making school.
Frasers will be celebrating an "African Christmas" this year. Mrs. Sophie Masango and four ladies from her community - the first four students of the beadwork and doll making school, manufactured part of the decorations in stores. This order ensured income in the short term for 5 unemployed women and the opening of a beadwork and doll making school in the community - perhaps an income for many more people from Sophie's community.
December and the festive season is a special time in the retail market as well as the lives of small businesses and individuals. During July 2002, Frasers Marketing department approached Anaphase Promotions cc to assist with the manufacturing of custom made window displays in celebration of an "African Christmas, 2002". The briefing provided to Anaphase Promotions cc included a desire expressed by Frasers to make a contribution towards the fulfillment of a Christmas wish - either for the manufacturers of the decorations or a charity.
Frasers is the largest group of luggage stores, currently 13 stores situated in all major shopping centers nationally. Over and above being The Home of Fine Leather, Frasers is Your Travel Companion. It is a luggage and accessory emporium that caters directly for the need of the luggage accessory market from the school child to the designer-conscious to the seasoned traveler.
This Christmas Frasers is fulfilling a Christmas Wish and is supporting the "Woman In Africa" initiative which was started by Anaphase Promotions cc. It is an online promotion, honoring the role Ndebele women play in society. Every "Woman in Africa" doll is hand made by unemployed Ndebele women, such as Mrs. Sophie Masango, specially packaged as collector's items and sent to the USA and UK for distribution. This private initiative was started up to assist unemployed people to earn a living and promote the Ndebele culture on an International level.
The aim of the sponsorship is to provide enough raw materials for Mrs. Sophie Masango to manufacture 100 dolls, which will be purchased by Anaphase Promotions cc for the online promotion " Woman In Africa", and to assist Mrs. Sophie Masango in turning her garage into both a school and a manufacturing plant for these dolls.
